So...You're Pregnent...Now what?

So You’re Pregnant … Now What?
App Reviews for the Technical-Savvy Mom

Being a mom is a difficult, underappreciated job. It’s a job full of spit up, soccer practices, play dates and dirty laundry. There’s so much to keep track of and do—without enough hours in the day to get everything done (and you can say good-bye to sleep). Thankfully, we live in a day and age full of technological advancements meant to make our lives easier, and if you take advantage of the right tools, you can at least tackle the little details of life—even if your kids constantly surprise you. Here are some apps for the iPhone, iPad and every other i-device that is currently on the market, with reviews about the good, the bad and the truly life saving.
· Bento for iPad – This app organizes everything. If you want one area for your calendar, to dos, addresses and more, then this is your best bet. Not only can you plan events and birthday parties, but you can even track things within the app, so it’s like a database designed solely to help you be a mom. If you have a Mac, you can synchronize your data between your computer and portable device, but I’ve found that having it with you on the go is all you really need. There are voice memos if you can’t get your hands free (and what mom can?) and it’s very intuitive to use.
· Ace Budget – I’ve never met a mom who wasn’t on a budget. This app takes your monthly income and helps you calculate how much you can spend on various activities and bills, from groceries to clothes and transportation. Not only does it give you the number amount, but it tracks how much you have spent and how much you still have available—which helps you weigh the pros and cons of purchasing the new car seat vs. those amazing shoes. The one downside to this app is that it takes a lot of diligence on your part, since you have to input your spending habits.
· Grocery IQ  – Speaking of groceries, you’ll be going through a lot of baby food, diapers and more, so this app is one of the most helpful on the market. This helps you build up your list so you don’t forget anything, but it lets you scan in product barcodes to find coupons to help you save money.
· Total Baby – You have a lot of different things to remember about your child’s care. What’s great about this app is that you can track multiple children, so even if you have six kids with different eating and sleeping habits, this helps you monitor everything from growth, to bath times, feedings and more. What is especially handy is that you can keep track of medicines and doctor visits, so when you need that information for your insurance, you have it at your fingertips.
· Adobe Ideas – This app was somewhat of a letdown. It’s a fun drawing app, but unless you’re really talented with computer graphics, you’ll find that your doodles won’t look as good as the examples they show you. However, it’s free, and it might keep your child entertained for a little bit (depending on their age).
Take advantage of the technological tools out there, and you will find that a lot of your scheduling hassles just got a lot easier.
